Privacy policy
This explains what Plaudit collects, why, who it's shared with, and the choices you have. Plaudit is run by the Plaudit team in India and follows India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
What we collect
From Google sign-in: your name, email address, profile photo and Google account ID.
What you set up and post: your username, bio, the stars you pick, posts, replies, polls, votes, photos, tags, predictions and verification requests (including the links and follower counts you give us).
What you do in the app: likes, reposts, saves, follows, the posts you view (to rank your feed and count views), daily visits for streaks, points, titles and achievements.
Safety records: reports you make or receive, mutes, blocks and moderation decisions.
Device details: a notification token if you allow notifications, and the app version.
If you join the waitlist: your name, email, city, referral details and a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address to stop spam.
We do not collect your contacts, location, microphone or camera, and we do not use advertising trackers.
Why we use it
To run Plaudit: sign you in, show and rank posts, count supporters, send notifications you turned on, verify accounts and keep your settings.
To keep it safe: review reports, act on abuse, stop spam and fake accounts, and meet legal duties.
We rely on your consent when you sign in and on legitimate uses allowed by law. You can withdraw consent by deleting your account.
What other people can see
Your name, username, photo, bio, posts, replies, fan cards, badges, titles, achievements and follower counts are public inside Plaudit. Poll results are public, and other members can see which option you voted for in a poll. Your email, prediction picks, saves, mutes, blocks, reports and views are private.
If you share your waitlist link, its preview shows your first name, your place in line and whether you're a Founding Fan.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your data. We use these service providers to run Plaudit, only for that purpose:
Supabase (database, sign-in and server functions; production data is stored in India), Cloudflare (photos, this website and spam protection), Expo (delivering notifications and app updates) and Google (sign-in and the Play Store).
Some of these providers may process data outside India. We may also share information when the law requires it, for example a court order.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account exists. When you delete your account we delete your profile, posts, photos, likes, follows, badges, views, saves and notification tokens. Posts that other people replied to become "This post was deleted" so the conversation still makes sense; your name and text are removed.
We keep brief records of moderation decisions where the law requires it. Waitlist details are kept until launch, or removed sooner if you ask.
Your rights
You can see and correct your details in the app, and delete your account in Settings or at https://plaudit.in/delete-account.
You can ask what data we hold about you, ask us to correct or erase it, nominate someone to act for you, and raise a complaint. Write to support@plaudit.in. If you're not satisfied, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
Age
Plaudit is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone younger; if we learn we have, we delete it.
Security and changes
Access to data is restricted by account-level rules in the database, connections are encrypted, and only the people who run Plaudit can reach the systems that hold it.
We will update this policy as Plaudit changes and show the date of the latest version here. For questions, contact the grievance officer below.
